Question-my baby's health.

I wonder....
I am 8 months pregnant almost.
I turned 15 in the summer.
Are there any birth defects my daughter could have because of my age when I conceived? Or my age now? I have been wondering, I didnt know if it would have any effect on her.

i cant think of any reason why your baby would be unhealthy based soley on your age. if you are taking care of yourself, everything should be fine. i remember feeling that way too, not exaclty cause i was young, but because i think we all have fears about our children before they are born. it is sooo totally normal. hang in there, you are almost done!!

Question-my baby's health.

People, not to long ago, had babies at 15 and younger all the time, it was considered normal. I dont' think that there is a higher risk for birth defects because of your age.

I agree with the other girls. If anything your eggs are healthier when you are younger just because they haven't had those extra years of aging. The studies I've read on birth defects seems to link most genetic ones to advanced maternal age. If you're eating well and taking care of yourself then your baby has an excellent chance of being born healthy with no problems.

This about it, that for the longest time in history your age is the average of women to give birth.
Ive not heard of any babies having problems because their mothers were young. I know, my doc. told me that L was going to be smaller than I was because I was younger and smaller than my mother. Thats about it.
The Last month is the longest! good luck.

Question-my baby's health.

what the other mamas said, if you have had a healthy pregnancy and are treatin yourself right, then i see absolutely no reason why you'd have any complications here on. in fact, i think it'd be harder to be pregnant and a new mom later in life that earlier, but i'm probably biased.

good luck with the rest of your pregnancy and birthing!! its so exciting. feel free to post back any time you have another question or even if you just need to vent. i know it feels super good to get support from other people when you are figuring so many things out.

Question-my baby's health.

I've read studies that say that on average the "best" age for pregnancy and childbirth based on physiology alone is 16.

I'll bet that you and the fetus are fine.

Most of the time it is when you are older that you have problems with the pregnancy. Sometimes when you are TOOOO Young things can be wrong with your health too! (to my knowledge)

Another really interesting fact is that the bones that make up our pelvis don't fully ossify until age 25 or so. That means that labor and delivery is a bit easier for the younger women because the bones are able to move and be flexible more then when we are older.

everything should be fine

everything should be fine,i asked my doctor because like you i am 15,and i was 15 when i gave birth, and my son was fine and my labor was easy!my doctor said that if anything did happen, it probably had nothing or little to do with my age, but,my docotor did tell me that babies born to younger moms are more likley to be born at a low birthweight, but dont stress about that,JAcob was born right where he should be. everything will be fine just take care of yourself and your lil fetus

The doctors do optional tests and stuff to check for defects and such. I'm sure if there was a problem, you'd know ahead of time. You shouldn't worry. You're young and healthy and in tip top shape... Just relax and enjoy your pregnancy. :)
