I've been seeing this guy for about 1 1/2 months. He has a 5 year old son who he has half-time. I want to get the son something for Christmas, but I don't know what. Obviously I don't want to get him something too expensive in case I overshadow what his dad gives him... since I really have no idea what his dad is giving him. So, any thoughts on what a 5-year old boy would like? I was given the suggestion of Spiderman stuff from a friend of mine...but I was also leaning towards little race cars...or remote control cars. Thanks for any help!

Would Lego be appropriate? i know you can buy the little boxes that they can put together, umm I always loved the cars with the mat on the floor that i could drive my cars on.
Good luck and im sure anything you give him he will appreciate.
I like the remote control car idea! My son is 2 and he loves playing with them (even though he can't work them too well). My friend's nephews who are 8 and 9 also love remote control cars. I think those are fun at any age. Hell, I still find them amusing at my age.
I say get him a pack of hot wheels cars or something. They are only like 5 bucks at walmart, and you get like 5 cars. You can never have too many hot wheels cars.
Honestly, I don't know if I'd give anything.
I got really weirded out when my bd's gf told me she had gotten Zoe presents. I don't think I'd feel comfortable with a gf of a really short time giving a present to my kid. If they had been dating a long time, I might feel differently.
Did you end up getting him anything??
Taylor's Dad's girlfriend always gets Taylor gifts for her birthday and Christmas and not just one, more like 5 or 6 and her parents also get her stuff.
James's girlfriend has been around Taylor 4 or 5 times but her parents have never met her!
