Please pray for my daughter

I'm kinda scared right now. Last Wednesday I took Jaylina to the doctor for her Chronic constipation, on Friday I had to take her to after hours care cause she had a temp of 104, and she was crying and upset all night long. They diagnosed double ear infections and prescribed amoxicillan (sp?) Anyway I got kinda wiered out about it cause they told me that they couldn't even see for sure if she had ear infections but they were "guessing" so then, that day I was trying to give her the antibiotic they gave me and she would keep it down maybe 5 minutes and throw it right back! She would not keep it down. So I kept giving her the ear drops they prescribed and gave her Tylenol to keep her fever down. So, yesterday I got a call from her babysitter saying that she broke out in a rash all over her face and torso. I called the clinic and they told me that the rash might be from the fever. But I was concerned that even though she didn't keep much of the antibiotic down that maybe she was having an allergic reaction to it, cause her dad is severly allergic to it. So, today her babysitter called and said that Jaylina barely woke up today, that she was mostly sleeping and very uninterested in playing or chasing the cat around like normal. So, now when I get off work I'm going to take her to a different hospital and see if they might be able to tell me what is wrong with my baby. I'm so scared that since no clinic seems to be trying their hardest to find out what's wrong, it could possibly be something more serious. I'm not sure if I will be able to be on tomarrow since we are expecting a very bad snow storm tonight, and I only use the computer at work. Anyway please have my daughter in your prayers for me. It's greatly appriciated. I'm very worried about her. Thanks so much.

your are in my thoughts let me know if you need anything...

i work in an allergy office, if you want to pm me if you have any questions you can,

i hope things go ok, keep us updated...

oh and if this is the first time she has had amoxil, it is very unlikely that it is an allergic reaction, because you have to build up the antibodies to have an allergic reaction to something....

I'll definitely keep her in my prayers. If you're worried that they aren't doing all they can - speak up about it. I've had to take Trey to the hospital a couple of times, and they always tried to write it off when I knew it was something. I was pretty (but respectfully) forceful about pushing the issue, and it usually helped to be assertive about it. As well as, do your best to try and ask around in some doctor or health communities (www.healthboards.com is a good health community) as someone might have had the same experience as you and can help out a little. Do as much research as you're able to do online as well, looking up what symptoms she has and possible causes. Write everything down (symptoms she has, symptoms you know she doesn't have, reactions, behavior changes, times of fever and severity of fever as well as how long it lasts, and any causes you find from your research that you think it might be and you want her checked for), and take it in with you when you go in. Being prepared for the doctor is the best thing you can do, as it can help him/her better assess what could be wrong, and a lot more quickly. Good luck mama, hope it all goes well.

Sounds like roseola. If the fever broke when the rash came, that's probably what it was. My son had it in September I think.

Anyway, hope she's okay, mama.

Hello and good morning everyone. I just wanted to update you on Jaylina. I took her to the ER the other night. I was pissed off and pretty much let them know that they were gonna hear me out, and not just look at her and say, "Nothing's wrong go give her tylenol and keep up fluids!" So, I made them do lab work, urine, blood, the works. First off, she was dehydrated cause she wouldn't drink, she WAS having an allergic reaction to Amoxacillan (sp?) and get THIS!!!! Her doctor prescribed her the antibiotic on 12/31 for ear infections. At the ER, they told me she DIDNT EVEN HAVE any ear infections!!!!! Oh I was so mad. Then they found that Jaylina also had (on top of an allergic reaction and dehydration) Roseola. (Baby Measles) So I'm probably gonna have to cancel her 1st birthday party Saturday till next weekend, cause she is contagious to kids 6-36 months until the measles go away. I just want to thank you for having us in your thoughts. I'm in the process of switching PCP's because my doctor obviously just didn't take the time to exaust all her resources and this wasn't the first time she falsly diagnosed my baby!!!! I think mostly it's because I look very young and she probably figured that I'm uneducated, which I am NOT! I'm so mad. But, I'm hoping Jaylina will be feeling up to speed soon. Thanks so much for your thoughts.

Glad to hear she's okay. Doctor's should be more aware about roseola. When Trey had it, he was around 9 months old, and we took him to the hospital because he refused to eat for days on end and had a HUGE fever. Instead of even thinking about roseola, they said he had a UTI and told me they were going to stick a catheter up his penis to get fluids because they didn't want to hold the hospital room up waiting for him to pee himself since he was dehydrated (by the way, they never even did anything to rehydrate him). Uh, no, I'm not letting you stick anything up there. I made them hold the room until Trey had peed (took 7 hours of sitting at his bedside all night not sleeping) I took him home, and he got the rash all over his body the next day, then he was fine.

Hey! They wanted to cath Jaylina too. They too thought it was a UTI, but I made them wait till she peed in this lil bag. I was totally concerned with that HIGH fever that kept going up and down. But I'm glad they found what it was. But I'm so mad that her regular doctor at Kaiser Permanente misdiagnosed her. I can't believe they didn't take the damn time! Ugh. I was so angry. Trust me, I gave them a BIG piece of my mind.

Isn't that annoying? They'd rather speed it up to get you out of the room quicker by sticking a huge tube up your child, instead of waiting a few hours for them to pee naturally? I'd understand a little more if they said the reason they wanted to catheter instead of wait was to diagnose the problem more quickly so he'd be out of pain, but they actually said it was to free up the room.

I've had catheters when I was young, and it wasn't too bad since I'm a girl and it's a decent size hole anyways (sorry to be blunt, heh), but to stick a large tube up a tiny lil penis hole just sounds excrutiating.

I agree! I don't have a son, but just imagining it...owwwww. If I had a son I wouldn't let em either. I had a cath once before, but I don't remember if it hurt or not cause I was so little. But, still I wanted to let Jaylina do her own thing instead of freaking the crap outta her. Jaylina has such stranger anxiety that she litterally cried herself into throwing up when they were just listening to her with the stethoscope!
