Bowel Movement Question

Some of you may not want to read about this, so go back to the Forum Index while you still have a chance!

Every time I have a bowel movement (which isnt very often), I rip my skin. I always bleed when I poop. I'm not constipated, though. It doesn't hurt to go to the bathroom, but I always get tiny tears. I have no insurance right now, so I can't see a doctor. It's not really painful, but I'm scared of possiblby getting an infection. Is there anything I can do?

Bowel Movement Question

Are there sharp things in them? Like partially chewed nuts or something of that nature? If thats not the problem have you tried eating prunes or something so they will be softer?

Wow, how did this wind up in School and Work? I swear I clicked on Our Bodies!! Perhaps a mod can move this to an appropriate place?

No, nothing sharp. That's why I'm so confused. I should try prunes, though. If I eat plums, will it have the same effect? I absolutely hate prunes.

Bowel Movement Question

Drink lots of water and eat lots of fiber. If things don't improve, I don't know what to tell you. Maybe a stool softener?

dried apricots are a good laxative if you're not a prune fan.

Maybe you could try a stool softener like Ex-Lax. I also reccomend putting some peroxide (not rubbing alcohol) on so tissue and dab some on the little cuts to kill the germs. It doesn't burn either.

Hmm...i agree with the stool softener. One time this happened to me, maybe i was constipated? But after, i took a shower and gently cleaned the area, and then i put vaseline on it..for me it made it feel better.

It might, but this happens to me, and I don't have a kid.

Are you all sure that it is not hemmorhoids? They can be on the inside so that you don't see them. I suggest drinking a lot of water and eating prunes and the like! Also, go to the bathroom right when you get the urge rather than putting it off until later. That way it doesn't get harder.

It could be you are re-tearing the same injury and it isn't getting time to heal.
Hypericum cream is very effective on anal abrasions. Putting it on 4 times a day would be pretty effective. Putting it on before you go might make it less painful.
Plus unlike haemorroid cream hypericum is natural and doesn't contain mercury.

Also you could try 'breathing' it out when you go to the toilet, y'know like the slow deep breathing & shoulder relaxation that you use during labour.
If yr stressed or scared it will hurt you will tighten.

As far as fibre is concerned psyllium husks are the best.
Bran can be irritating for some people.
You can get them from health food stores & they aren't that expensive.
I found the best way for me to take them was to mix two teaspoons of psyllium husks with a bit of yogurt eat it then chase with a water or watery apple juice, then have another glass of water a couple of minutes later. You need to take it quick, psyllium turns to a gel first but turns hard after that.

Bowel Movement Question

That has also started happening to me post baby. I know what you mean, because it doesn't really hurt me either and its not constipation, but there is bleeding and it feels different. It hasn't happened to me for about 3 months I'd say, and my daughter is now 10 months old. How old is your child? Maybe it has something to do with how long ago you gave birth and it is hemmerhoids on the inside just trying to heal...I dont know though. Another wierd thing that's been happening to me post baby is my bowel movements often come out almost in pellots (like a rabbit or something) Does this happen to anyone else? Peace!
