I have my nursing assistant certification test this saturday. I need to be studying...but I'm really bad at studying. I can never remember anything and I never know what exactly I should be studying. Does anyone have any study tips??
as silly as it sounds, i think of common songs and make rhymes & songs out of things i need to remember...
i also read whatever i need to like, a hundred times over & over... then i can usually remember... or just remember keywords... hope that helps!
I like Flashcards for terms/definitions/events/years etc. Just going over them frequently will help me, and alternating which side I look at helps me know it regardless of how the question is worded.
The song idea is great for long ideas/event/procedures, also making your own words out of the first letter of each word can help keep it in your mind.
i like the flashcard idea. Whenever im studying, i usually try and change rooms (bedroom, kitchen) every hour or so, its like a new environment and helps me to keep concentrating.
I have to make study notes to study. Writing it out helps me remember.
I write the same information over and over and over again. Also, talking to someone about it helps because it brings it into real life, especially if the other person is knowledgable in the subject.
unplug the computer and the tv if you have one. seriously. get some headphones with instrumental music and read read read. bold words=good to remember. read chapter summaries. flash cards are good but i know i don't have time to do them most of the time.
To study for a test - i pull out any reading materials which were assigned and all my class notes, and as i re-read them, i hand write in a notebook anything which was unfamiliar. After I do that, i reread what i hand wrote. i find that helps anything i missed in class stick in my head.

that's a very good idea. i end up rewriting my notes sometimes, too. especially in classes like chemistry or organic chemistry when structures have to be drawn, or in calculus (or lower division math) classes when problems are worked out.
Thats what I do too, write out 1-2 pages of the most important things, things you have to memorize like a formula, or things I don't know, then review that again right before the test.

Bribe yourself. That's the ONLY way I can not blow it off.
