Just curious if any of the mums here have used natural induction methods in the past and what there experiences were.
How did you 'get things going'?
Anything from teas, castor oil, sex, homeopathics & aromatherapy?
Was it effective for you? Good/bad? Unadvised?
Just curious.. well maybe because I'm so sick of being heavily pregnant in the middle of summer (southern hemisphere)!
With our eldest I was 40wk 3days and told by a doctor that as the kid hadn't dropped yet I'd have to be induced and we'd chat about it at next weeks appointment.
That night my wife gave me a massage with clary sage oil* and then we fucked**. 3 hours later my waters broke and I gave birth 14 hours later.
With our second my wife was thoroughly pissed off with being pregnant so she ate 5 curries in 24 hours, drank raspberry leaf tea, I rubbed her pressure points near her ankle and we had a heap of sex**. She went into labour, which ended up being 33 hours as little J was in posterior position and gave birth at 39 weeks on the dot.
* Clary sage oil causes contractions and shouldn't be used til your pregnancy is term It really great for menstral problems.
Mix 4-6 drops of essential oil into half a cup of carrier oil (like almond oil) and massage onto belly.
** I know hetero fucking is probably way more effective for bringing on labour due to semen being very rich in prostaglandins but hey we had fun anyway. Plus orgasms do bring on contractions and release endorphins.
