i dont know what kind of drug tests yall are referring to here, but just keep in mind that the hair follicle ones go back 90 days...and that shows everything.
i've never had to take one and i live in TX.

I've heard follicle tests can go back over a year depending on how long your hair is.
i just did a lot of research (which was nothing fancy, basically just googled it) because BD had to take one the other day. Everything i read said 90 days, and thats what my dad told me too.
From what I understand, most drugs leave your system in 90 days or less... And it does matter what kind of drug test they give you.
Like hair tests are the longest, I think it can go back as long as your hair, but julesmama just did google on it and found 90 days even for hair. So I bet that is the timeframe they are aloud to use.
With blood and urin tests most stuff leaves your system real fast. With pot lasting up to 30 days (depending on factors like your weight, height, matablism(sp?) and water intake) and things like 1 gram of coke lasting less than 24 hours (also depending on factors like weight, height, matablism and water intake).
With my daughter I did about an eight ball every weekend up until I was 4 months pregnant. (and found out I was pregnant) Then quite--cold turky. Hardest thing in the world to do! With my first son I did maybe a line or four every other weekend or so up until I was 6 months pregnant. When I tried to OD, I think I did like 3 eight balls by myself... that hurt like hell...
With this pregnancy I was in the process of trying to quite for good. So, only used like 3 times in very early pregnancy.
I honestly don't know if "they" can just up and take your child, even if you do test positive for drugs. I think there is a process that has to be followed, including home visits and such.
Much love,
There should be a process, but CPS oversteps their bounds and often take children for causes without evidence or things that are completely made up. I have seen it first ahnd:(
And to the mama that said you should quit when you find out you're pregnant...
I had been using marijuana for probably 4 or 5 years before I got pregnant and it is VERY VERY hard to stop something that has become habit cold turkey. My body wasn't addicted, but I used it to cope with my anxiety. It was the one thing I could look to, to soothe my worries. I eventually stopped, but it was a struggle even with everyone supporting me. For me, it was like taking away my medication.
I didn't mean to sound judgemental at all. And I didn't mean to come across as saying YOU SHOULD QUIT! I guess I was kinda more asking why you wouldn't stop if you could. And I definitely understand what you mean about doing something for years and how hard it is to quit. I smoked (cigarettes) for 4 years before I got pregnant and quitting made me feel like I was going to DIE! lol. I actually have read some things now that say for cigarette smokers they should not quit but just cut down because the stress on your body from quitting can stress the fetus as well.
about quitting smoking stressing the fetus - i really think that is a myth. I was told that by a lot of people when i got preg but all of the research I did,did not support this at all. i finally decided to quit coldturkey and it was very hard.

I never heard that quoted from a doctor so you could very well be right that it is a myth...I, personally, would not be comfortable smoking during a pregnancy even if a doctor told me it was ok. I just worry FAR too much. When I bought my pregnancy test with Destiny I bought a pack of newports at the same time. The Newports never got opened. heh.
i admit to that i drank and smoked ciggaretts and weed for about 5 months of my pregnancy because i was only 15 and i didn't kno for sure if i was pregnant or not. i knew my period had stoped but i didn't know if i was just not getting it or what was going on. I guess basically i didn't want to believe i was ( being only 15 )... I drank probably 4 times a week non stop. because it was summer time and i was out of school. but when i was getting really sick i went to the hospital one night because i wasn't breathing good because i was scared and i needed to tell my mom and i was scared and was having anxiety attacks from holding it in so long. but after that she was fine a little upset but she was ok. we made my first pre natal visit a little after 5 months and i quit cold turkey drinking and smoking and i smoked scince i was 12 so about 4-5 years and i did it because i was so happy i having a child and i didn;t want to hurt her and i knew if i did it id be hurting her. so it was easy for me. i just thought of her everytime i wanted to do it. well she is a month and 2 weeks old and she seems fine and very content and shes so beautiful and so far shes doing great!@

Just wanted to mention that it is offensive to some when you say you made the choices you did because of your age. You don't have to be ashamed of what you did because you know you are making the right choices now, but using that age to make yourself feel better undermines women who are fifteen, or women who are older and drank/smoked during pregnancy. It is good to educate people about making healthy choices, but shame and excuses are never healthy.
I beleive it depends on your state.

Good point Julesmama. That is what I know about the urine test, so it could be completely different for others.

What's an eight-ball?
1/8 ounce (about 3.5 grams) of coke or meth
if you ever want to talk about quitting pm me ok?

About the length of time drugs can stay in your system...Im pretty sure its 90 days or less for urine or blood testing...hair, I'm not sure..
and I've been told...(dont know if its true) that drugs like LSD can be detected from a spinal tap even YEARS after the last time you did it.
