Just wanted to say that I'm leaving GirlMom. I know y'all will be glad to see me go, since I won't fall in line and I won't keep my mouth shut. Maybe someday I'll find some other young, poor, single, radical anarchist mamas but they're not here, that's for sure. I'd like to hope that some of the girls on here can think for themselves without a bunch of authoritarian mommy figures looking over their shoulder as they type.

which is really so funny. It's amusing when people try to pull that shit, because HOW many times have we all fought and debated and disagreed here? The reason we arent sad to see Mandy go isn't because she disagreed with most of us. Like, me and Eve are disagreeing in another thread but agreeing here and in a ton of other places, you know? It happens, people disagree a LOT. And it's not because she is sooooo much more radical then us.
It's cus she's an insenstive follower who has said such things like being homeless isnt so bad, losing a baby during a home birth would just be "the way things were supposed to be", that rapists deserve a chance to stay in their communities, that abortion is murder, and on and on.

I'm not exactly HAPPY to see you go, but "goodbye" posts are extremely irritating.
Excuse me, Mandy, but I for one DO think for myself. For the most part the people on this board tend to agree with the Mods though, and it's not agreeing with them BECAUSE they are mods, they were elected to BE mods in the first place because they have the general beliefs that represent the majority of the board. I disagree with a lot of what they say and I'm not shy to point that out, in fact I've started a lot of heated debates and arguments on this board because I do always say what I believe. You know what the difference is though? I do it in an open minded, non dismissive, non "snarky" (quickly becoming one of my favorite terms) way. A lot of the times I'll realize maybe I'm not so right, and what the others say do make sense and my opinion will adapt with new knowledge.
The reason you got the response you did, WASN'T because you had a differing opinion, but because of your self-righteous, holier-than-thou, snotty little attitude when it came to DEALING with people who had a differing opinion than yours. A lot of people on this board don't agree about a LOT of things, but we do it in a way that doesn't offend, and doesn't hurt others, but instead in a way that tries to make them aware and more understanding of our point. (Except when snarky people try to shut us down, and than what you're saying becomes irrelevant because it's hurtful).
Personally, I'll be a little off to see you go, because although you acted like a closed-minded holier-than-thou snot (maybe just because of defensiveness?) in some of your threads, in the rest of them, you were a pretty awesome girl to talk to.
I personally think you're the one with the problem, not us, we're pretty accepting of a LOT of people and a lot of opinions, just as long as it's not done in a hurtful and offensive way. Feel free to come back to the boards whenever you want, as the fun-loving you will be missed, but leave the snark at home.

I agree. My mind is my own. I don't base my posts on what I think the mods will like. I tell it how it is.
And that's how it should be. Everyone is thier own person and has thier own opinions. Debating is great because it helps you look at different views. You might not believe or agree with what everyone says but to listen and talk about it is great!
Kell, you're absolutely right... I didn't debate my first time around. I argued and threw insults. I left the board in a way worse manner than Mandy did. But people change. And grow up. And learn to appreciate and embrace other people's opinions. It will be interesting to see if Mandy will ever return with a whole different point of view.
