Why are links to articles on World Net Daily being posted on a left-wing feminist messageboard? It's one of the most unbiased sites I can think of. Banner ads inviting you to join the Conservative Book Club on the front page? A link to an article blaming radical feminism and gay marriage for the "divorce epidemic" in America?
Seriously, why? I don't think it has any place here.

Unfortunately, if they weren't already, they're all biased at this point, since there's not room for anything else once something becomes a legal battle. (And for the record, I'm against the creation of any of these laws). I pulled from that article because it was the only one I could find that outlined the complaints of the parents against the husband, which I needed to correct the claim that abuse had only been alleged prior to her injury. Everything I pulled from there is clear in saying "the Schindlers argue" or allege, so my quotes were facts about the parents side, rather than just conservative commentary. I debated whether or not to put the link, but I know how frustrating it can be when people don't link their sources. Before posting it I looked to see if there were any offensive links, and I didn't see any, but perhaps what I see isn't what you're seeing on that particular page? I don't see any of those things you mention. I apologize if the link offended you.

Erinn, I do mean biased.
The link to the conservative bookclub is just under the blue navigational bar on the left of the article. The other link (about how radical feminism and gay marriage are causing the divorce rates to soar) is actually on the front page of the site. But on the page with the article, there is a link to commentary where a doctor urges women not to abort their fetuses (of course, that's not the language she uses) if the fetus is diagnosed with a disability. And another link to commentary by everyone's favourite nutbag, Jerry Falwell.
You're right Julie, there's nothing in the article itself that is offensive, it's the source. We know that anyone writing for WND is automatically going to be biased in favour of keeping her alive, and they would feel that way if Michael Schiavo had been keeping vigil at her bedside for the last 15 years. Their view on the subject has nothing to do with whether or not she was abused, it has to do with their belief in the sanctity of human life at all costs. Because God says so. So no matter how the article is worded, it is automatically biased, and that is why I don't think it's a very good source, especially for this website.
I'm sorry, I know this thread isn't about any of this, but my hackles get raised when I see links to WND posted, because you don't always see the agenda right away.
I wish there wasnt so much hype about this whole issue. It is a very difficult decision to remove someone from life support. I have been talking with my mom a lot about this. She and my father decided to remove my sister from life support when she was 5.5 months old. She told me that it was hands down the most difficult decision she ever made. But she said that when she looks at the footage of terri it reminds her of my sister, the way that she doesnt look happy, her "happy" face is really just a little less pained looking then the rest of the time. When my sister died, she looked happy for the first time in her life. I saw pictures from right after she died, and she actually had a smile on her face. Sometimes it is JUST TIME TO DIE. I wish that technology didnt bring us to a point where we are able to keep someone alive past their time. I really feel for terri's family. Her parents, they are holding on to what little of their daughter they have, and i can totally understand why they want to keep her alive. And her husband, i really respect him for sticking around. I think it is fine that he has another family, it has been 15 years, and he cant be expected to be stuck in the past. I think those protesters are a bunch of idiots. i want to send them to africa to protest about the 1000's of children that die of starvation every day. I saw one of them try to bring terri a glass of water. WTF? They need to get lives.
Sorry for the rambling on-ness of this post. I am still sorting out my feelings on this topic. I think the courts made a very difficult, but correct, decision.
Personally i know that if i were in that situation i would want to be left to die. This case really highlights the need for living wills. My dh and i have both agreed that we will do whatever it takes in this situation if that means smothering the other with a pillow. I feel that the media really demonized the husband, however i cannot be sure of the real facts nor can anyone. There was a lot of propoganda on both sides. I hope the woman is at peace.
God, now the family is fighting over what should be done with her body. Are they ever gonna let go! I know its hard but for christ sake she is dead! They are holding on to anything that they possibly can, and what they really need to be doing is coming together as a family to greive their loss. I dont really think it matters where she is buried. I know that sounds insensitive, but this whole case is really starting to make me mad. They are acting irrationally, which i can understand, but i think that they need to take a step back and realize how they are acting. They were fighting over Terri like she was a toy and now they are probably going to do the same thing with her body. That is just sad.
oh, and Terri Shiavo's mother and father, in "thanks" to all those who supported them, have agreed to sell their list of supporters personal information (names, addresses, email addresses) to a spam company.

sphinx is completely right on that point. my dad's hospice nurse was the best. i dont think she will suffer at all

do you mean biased, monkey? (i'm not trying to be an ass, just clarifying!)
also agreed that the source of information is very important when looking at cases such as this.

She died, so for now the battle's over.

i was just about to come and post that. I just hope her family is left to grieve in peace and doesnt have half the world barging in on that too.
I JUST saw that and was about to post that! I really hope that her family can properly grieve.

I hope my partner does everything that Michael Schiavo did.

"State Agency: Terri Schiavo Was Not Abused or Exploited by Either Side of Her Family"
Too bad we can't say the same for our Government.

Great people, I tell you. Great people.
That is so ridiculous. Not only that, they're supposedly selling them to a "conservative" direct-marketing firm.. meaning it will be a bunch of anti-abortion solicitations and the like
