I think most Planned Parenthood locations have sliding scales, and what she would pay would be determined when she made an appointment. If you want to PM mod_squad her specific location, we could look it up and find out what clinics are in her area and whether they offer sliding scale payments. :)

They should offer sliding scales and possibly even allow her to work out a payment plan. If she goes through a fund, often the fund can set up a payment plan that will allow her to have the procedure. The fund has faith in the woman that she'll pay, and the clinic can pass the bill over to the fund and hold them liable so they can still do the procedure.

If I recall the state you live in correctly, I believe Medicaid will cover abortions. If your friend qualifies for cash assistance and is pregnant, she should be able to get medicaid coverage. Tell her to talk with someone at a clinic knowledgable about how to go about doing it, since she probably won't want to say " i need medicaid for an abortion" in case she gets an antichoice caseworker. It might be called a "family planning waiver" in your state and she may have to go through some red tape proving it's "medically necessary," which could just mean a known prochoice doctor signing off on it.

There are also funds that can be found here

That's a lot of money. My sister only had to pay $30 for a checkup and $20 for the actual abortion. Did she use insurance?

It sounds like your sister had insurance and was only paying a co-pay she is having to do this out-of-pocket
