So, apparently I"m alergec to the sun. I have been for years, but it stopped once I got pregnant.
And, now, it's starting again. I get a red, bumpy, ITCHY rash that covers my arms when I spend a lot of time in the sun. It's HORRIBLE and so gross looking. I've tried sun-screen, but that doesn't seem to work.
I love being out in the sun, and I love wearing tank-tops and sleevless shirts.
Does anyone else have this problem, or know how I can stop it??

Sun Rash

Have you been using a full spectrum sunscreen? I am fairly sensitive to the sun, breaking out in hive-like bumps if I am not properly protected. Next time you are ina store, read the labels of sunscreen bottles. Somethign for sensitive skin and UVA and UVB protection might help, thoguh that tends to be a bit pricier. You might also consider not spending more time than necessary outdoors during peak hours (1-4pmish).
Have you asked your doctor about it? Or even went to see a dermatologist? I'm sure there is something they can give you...some type of cream or something. Good luck!
My mom used to get heat bumps when she was out in the sun, so she went to a doctor and she got heat treatments where she would be under some lamp for awhile or something (im not sure much about it, it was a LONG time ago), it seemed to "cure" her though because shes fine in the sun now.
I think I get this too. It started last spring, basically the first time I started laying out since I had DD. It scares me because my mom had lupus and started getting rashes before she came down with it and I really don't want lupus. I have found that sunscreen/tanning oils (lol I know they aren't the same thing at all...) made it much worse probably because it was blocking sweat glands... (My own diagnoses was blocked sweat glands...)
I LOVE the sun and tanning so it's super annoying and I am trying to take it slowly this year so hopefully I won't get any rashes...
Anyway, if anything else comes up and I head to the doc I will be sure to PM you about it...
I've had a slight allergy to the sun since I was a kid, I feel you. The doctor told me there wasn't any pills or anything to help, that all I could do was stay inside, or be super covered up outside.
If I'm in the sun for more then 20 minutes, I get a slight rash, but the worst part is I get heat stroke badly, after 20 minutes. Any more then that in a day, and the rest of the week I'm inside recovering from heat stroke, and it sucks.
Which is why I like winter. Sun further away = Cristi outside more.
I get it too although it was worse when I was a kid. What helped me when I was little was my mom would take me to a tanning salon for a couple of 15 minute sessions at the beginning of the summer. For some reason a little bit of light helped my skin build up a tolerance. And I wear 45 spf, everyday, regardless of whether I think I'm going to be in the sun or not.
