so after i had the babe.. my sides and hips and thighs have gotten a lot bigger and i went swimming this weekend and felt really disghusting looking in my suit.. I had to wear a tank top to cover my stretch marks and bulgy tummy and my sides.. and my thighs!!! wow.. lets just say they were rubbin together.. and i see all these pretty girls in the swim suits and i look at me and its really depressing.. :( anyone knows how i can loose some LB'S!!!!

I really like pilates. You can buy the DVD for relatively cheap and then you just do it in your home...so you don't have to be seen by anyone else!
I'm all about home exercise videos. That way you don't have to lug the kiddo to the gym or try to find a babysitter...plus you spare everyone else seeing your goofy moves!
Yeaah i 've bought a couple home videos but i cant get myself to do them everyday and i cant even finish a whole video.. its really sad.. what kind of Diets do you girls go on if any ? thanks
I don't think any diets really work. I think the best way to lose the weight is to eat right and excercise, plain and simple. I suggest eating small portions more frequently through out the day instead of 3 large meals. Also, try to walk everyday. Take the babe out for a stroll. You'll feel more energized and it's a nice, easy way to excercise!
Oh, and also remember that those "pretty girls" most likely did not just have a baby! You are still you on the inside regardless of how much you weigh! And you are wonderful! Always remember that. :D
ellev's answer was great. keep in mind I haven't had a baby, but these are good tips in general.
I'm a runner, so that burns a lot a lot of fat and calories.
I also train in/teach martial arts as volunteer work: doing something like that is great exercise, builds strength, and really builds self-confidence.
here's the trick I always tell people and it works for most everyone: muscle weight burns off food and speeds metabolism. so I always tell people to weight train if they want to lose weight/trim inches. You'll gain in the beginning, but you'll also look more toned, and eventually your metabolism will be much faster.
as for eating, (heh, when I have food) I really like eating a high-vegetable, high-fruit, high-protein diet. when I eat carbs I try to make sure they're unprocessed or multi-grain. you can do this really cheaply: for instance, if you have an Aldi's in your area, you can get a lot of good food for twenty bucks- they've even started making a twelve-grain bread.
I drink tons and tons of green or white tea. This I get free because a friend is a barista and takes teabags from her job for me, but it's full of antioxidants and other great stuff; a lot of those terrible weight loss supplements use green tea extract in them.
drink diet soda if you have to have it at all.
good luck!
Wow thank you so much.. My other problem is I dont like to eat breakfast and sometimes dont get the energy to get up untill lunch. so when I do eat lunch its a big meal.. and then i snack maybe and eat supper.. I heard its bad to not eat breakfast becasue it messes with your metabolism or summin and makes you gain weight. Also would it be better to just drink milk and water and not so much pop adn juice ? Because they were saying how juice is always given in such big proportions that it makes you gain so much weight and i love juice and pop. but i've been trying to just drink milk and water.
I disagree with that. My favorite 'diet' is weight watchers...they call it a diet but in reality, it's a lifetime thing. Since I started, I've learned to do everything you've said. I'm eating the amount I should, I'm eating things my body needs [fruits, veggies, dairy] and I work out everyday [these are the rules for WW!].
Honestly, it's the best diet i've come across. I haven't had to cut out anything completely [you CAN eat carbs, chocolate, sugar...you just learn to do it in moderation]. I do have snacks, I eat ice cream, I'm never hungry and I eat my chocolate! AND I still lose weight!
As for workout DVDs...it's tempting going into the store and buying whatever catches your eye. Most of the time, they are very advanced. You need to step it down a notch. Personally, my favorite DVD is Leslie Sansone's Walk Away The Pounds. I have the 1 mile, 2 mile and 3 mile DVD. The 1 mile is for beginners or for anyone tryiong to squeeze in a quick walk. They get more intense as you work up. You can do it right in your bedroom...not a lot of space is needed. It's bascially walking in place, doing little kicks, knee lifts, arm movements etc...there is NO walk like it!
Good luk on losing the baby weight :)
One of my LJ friends has the best advice, always. I'll just copy and paste what she said:
EAT BREAKFAST
Why? Your bodys metabolism slows waaay down while you're sleeping. When you wake up it's still that pace---it picks up minutely merely from moving around, but not enough to burn the food you're eating later in the day. If you skip breakfast and then eat lunch or dinner, you won't burn those calories as fast.
Also, breakfast will give you energy--we've all heard that one, I won't go into it. If you skip breakfast, or eat breakfasts that consist of granola or energy bars, then you're comprimising your ability to pick up your metabolism later.
What else...stop counting calories. You'll never get it right anyway because you're all basing them on serving sizes/package labels/etc. and not couting in ingredients (ex: a bag of popcorn is supposed to be 1 serving size of 60-something calories. HOWEVER, they are not required to add in the caloric value of salt, butter, oils, and all the rest of that jazz--even on fat-free or low fat popcorns. So actually, you're consuming about 600 calories)
Stop obsessing over what you ate, and focus on what you did NOT eat. Eat a lot more protein and calcium, worry less about carbohydrates--seafood like sushi or broiled fish, and plain yogurt and skim milk are amazing for stocking up on your essential fatty acids. Those are (you guessed it) ESSENTIAL! My skin, hair, and nails are all very fabulous because I eat a lot of yogurt and fish. Yogurt with fruit on the bottom, even if it's low fat, is really bad for you. It has way too much sugar.
Drink water all the time.
Don't eat anything 3 hours before you go to sleep.
Breakfast should be your biggest meal. Healthy choices. Lunch should still be moderate, with a light supper. Snacks in between are good, raw veggies or fruits, or yogurt are the best choices for snacking.
oh, and juice/pops are good to get away from. Too much sugar and empty calories. Milk is okay, necessary for calcium, but don't drink more then you should since it's also pretty high in calories, fats, etc. Water is key. Drink a lot of water, every day. It's hard to get used to at first, but eventually you'll find yourself passing on the pops for water with ease :)

I also have the Walk away the Pounds Video.. The 2 Mile workout. But It gets to boring !!! lol But im goign to try to work on it. Oh and what is weight watchers and how could i look into that and is it expensive ?
I am really going to work on eating breakfast and drinking a lot more water and cutting back on soda and juice and fatty foods.. Thank you all!
I really don't like slow workouts (pilates, yoga) because I get bored too easily.
My favorite work out videos are the Kathy Smith videos from like, the 80's.
Fun, corny, upbeat music, aerobics that always make me sweat but are still easy, and I get a kick out of the old time workout fashions. (bright blue spandex with a bathing suit and leg warmers? awesome.)
I'm sorry. I didn't mean that Weight Watchers didn't work. I meant more along the lines of those "Hollywood" diets. Atkins, etc...
Weight Watchers, like you said, is more of a liftstyle than diet. But I think the diets that are out there now are just bandaids - quick fixes. They help you lose weight for a little while but you can't keep it off. Weight Watchers is good because it's balanced. Moderation is always key to a successful healthy lifestyle!
I haven't had a child yet either, but I will say that my biggest problem with exercise it that I think it's boring. Running on a treadmill isn't effective for me cause I just lose focus and get off.
My exercise is DDR (dance dance revolution) it is an investment, you need a ps2 and a dance mat and the game, but I can play it for hours at a time, and as you advance and get more skilled you work harder. I'm drenched in sweat after about 15 minutes and I still want to keep going. It's tons of fun and something you can maybe even do with your kidlets if they are old enough.
It also has a calorie counter/workout mode. I'm not sure of the accuracy of the calorie counter, but it lets you enter in your weight and bases how much you burn on that and how many steps you take. It's lots of jumping and hoping around, and it's so much fun!
Don't be sorry, sweetie! I know what you meant :D
I just started those DVDs but I can imagine they get boring. How about something fun? Carmen Eletcra has an Arobeic Striptease [fun & burns calories!], I know there is a DVD called Punk Rock Arobics...it might be a book...I don't know but it looks fun!, also you can try Hip-Hop dance/workout DVDs, enroll in a dance class...so many options!
As for Weight Watchers, you have to be 18 to join. You can join meetings with a Dr.'s note saying you are OK to be there...meetings get expensive though. It's $10 a week for meetings and you have to pay a sign-up fee. Personally, I joined online for somewhere around $14 a month [compared to $40 a month with meetings!] but I had to lie about my age. My Dr. said it was fine if I do it but there is no way that you can join online underage..even with a Dr. note.
As for exercise videos, Tae Bo is really great. It's lots of fun, and I find Billy Blanks to be very motivational.
Well ..... hrm.... i like dancing, so i will put in a few tunes and dance.
wall push ups rule, yep, wall pushups, you may think it wont do anything but it does...lol
lunges and squats, the best exercise for the leg area
Well I'm not where I want to be, shape-wise but I've been watching what I eat and trying to make healthier choices like choosing a vinaigrette instead of caesar dressing and trying to fit more veggies into my diet. I started taking vitamins and I never drink soda and rarely ever juice.
Some of my personal problems with my diet are:
never eating breakfast
drinking coffee every morning
rarely eating fruit
always eating out during lunch
making instant/out of the box/frozen food at home
always making the biggest part of any meal the starch (I love pasta, potatoes, rice, all kinds of asian noodles)
I know I need to work on the above things, but some of the hardest ones to change are the unhealthiest (like not eating breakfast which I've been doing for most of my life). My energy level is low and I get super sleepy after meals.
I rarely go to the gym, but I want to change that and maybe take up yoga with a friend. Time and energy are my biggest issues with exercise. My energy problem almost definitely comes from my skipping breakfast, drinking coffee and eating the wrong things so for results working out I'm gonna need to work on my diet.
