To work or not to work?

Hi

I'm 15 weeks pregnant and i'm not sure if i should start a new job. I really could use the money since i don't have that much financial support, but i'm already beginning to show. Would someone hire a woman who's about to leave in a few months? I dont know what to do I want to save up as much as I can before the baby is born. I've been looking into working from home but everywhere I look it seems like its some kind of scam cuz their always asking for money first. What should I do?

Here are some tips that are my personal opinions, of course.

Most work-at-home schemes ARE scams. Anyone who asks for money first is a fraud.

Secondly...a manager or HR rep that knows you'll have to go on leave soon, and they'll have to pay for it (if they offer STD), will be less likely to hire you than someone who isn't expecting. It fucking sucks, is unfair, is ILLEGAL, but it happens.

I started a job when I was 4 months along and just never told anyone. My plan was to tell them a month prior that I would need to go on leave, but I ended up quitting because the job sucked ass, so I didn't have to worry about it in the end.

I would try to get a job. Dont do those work from home things, my friends lost almost 1000$ on that before they figured out it was a scam. It will probably be harder to find a job than if you werent showing, but a lot of employers are very sympathetic and maybe one of those will hire you!

I was 4 months pregnant when I got a job and was also showing. I didn't tell my potential employer I was pregnant, and they didn't notice. I told them about a month after I was hired, but ended up quitting before I would have to go on leave anyways.

Have you considered being a summer nanny? A lot of families are looking now and in my experience nannying has paid better than any other job I have worked. If that's not for you I'd look for a job and not an at home thing. good luck!

To work or not to work?

Thanks a lot for the advice. I'm feeling better now than i did the first few months so i'm gonna give the job thing a try. Is it possible to be fired after an employer finds out i'm pregnant. I know its probably illegal, but people have gotten away with things like that no?

i am sure ppl do get away with that and have unfortunately. i used to work for a temp agency and a girl that was pregnant had just gotten done w/ college, but she was just working with temp agencies until she had her baby... then would look for a job w/ her degree...
maybe try that?

They can't fire you for being pregnant. I'm in a rather similar situation, but I say go for it.

I got my hours cut from 25 hrs a week to 3 hrs a week when my boss found out I was pregnant. This was at burger king. Of course, THATS not why they cut my hours
