working full time/ school parttime, can it be done???

I work full time right now and am in school part time.

I opted this semester to take 2 classes on line and 1 at school, so I go to class 1 evening a week for 3 hours.

next semester I will probably take 2 evening clases and 2 online classses and be considered a fulltime student, so yes it is possible.

Just an fyi though, I did a year long LPN program, and it was not a program they offered as part time. You may want to check and make sure you can do that program part time. When I did my program, I went to school from about 8 to 4 every day then I worked at nights or on the weekends.

good luck

I was working 2 jobs (totaled about 50 hrs/wk) and going to school for 12 credit hours (full time). I was only 1 semester away from graduating, so I just did it. I felt like I never saw my daughter, but I just kept telling myeslf, "it's only for a short time, then I'll get to see her more." A couple of my classes were internet classes. That helped, b/c then I could just work on them when Katie was sleeping.

I work Monday, Thursday & Friday from 8 to 4:30 and Wed from 8 to 12:15
Then I go to school full time: Tuesdays from 8 to 8, Wed from 1 to 4:30 and Thursday from 5:30 to 7:45. It works great for me and I have weekends off, so I can do some activism, homework, Lyric-Time, Me-Time, etc. Plus I am taking an online class this semester. Good Luck!

I'm only an ally so I know I don't have the responsibility you do but I work full-time then go to law school at night. It's working but I have to study for many hours on the weekend and sometimes evenings. There are lots of parents in my night law school though, including single parents making it work.

Also, I worked as an undergrad and it wasn't nearly as hard as this. Maybe in nursing school you wouldn't have as much homework as law school so I think you should definately try it. I was just re-reading your post. I don't know specifically about nursing school but to me college wasn't a big jump from high school. Once you complete high school college is just the next grade. It's just set up a lot differently.

I also went to school, undergrad. with my two kids. I started college at 18 and had my daughter and went through with my big pregnant self and then did the same thing two years later with my son. I did have quite a bit of help from my parents. It felt like I never saw them (I was going 12-15 credit hours each semester most of the time) but I knew it was the best thing for them. They also were in a really good, caring montessori school and the staff there really loved them (I used to work there before they were born)
Anyway, my point is, that there is definately a way to make it work, it may not be how mine worked out but you can find a way to make it work for you and your family! And it is well worth it (though it may not feel like it some nights when you have to study and take care of the kids!)
Hope that helps and good luck!
