Too much Water? Not eating Solids..

I know I heard somewhere that water was bad for newborns b/c of an electrolyte imbalance or something like that, but Chloe is 9 mos now, and I think she can have water. But how much would be too much? She usually doesn't drink it everyday (it's more of a plaything, something to amuse her than for thirst) but I don't want to give her too much.

She doesn't eat many solids, she nurses all the time. I'm trying to get her to eat more, but she prefers to nurse and I do what's easiest.. I guess I'm a wimp or something. She likes table food and some of the Gerber snacks, but I'm at a lose as to how to get her to eat solids too. We don't have a set schedule on how we eat, and so I don't know if I should make one for her. When she's hungry she'll attack my shirt and usually will get mad if I offer her anything that isn't the boob. Any advice?

Too much Water? Not eating Solids..

My daughter was exclusively breastfeed untill she was atleast 9 months. She refused solids and it wasnt untill she was like 14 months that she actually got interested in solids. Water is okay, maybe half a cup a day? I woudlnt worry about it too much, she knows whats best for her and I dont think she'd drink too much water.

Solids aren't neccessary imo untill there ready. Doesnt sound like shes ready, and really thats okay. Some people feel that iron deficiency is an issue for breastfed babies, and I was asked constantly if she was on iron drops, which she wasnt. We finally got her iron tested when she was over 2 and the nurse was shocked at how great her numbers were.

If you want to, maybe make some home made baby foods, just smash up the veggies or fruits you eat and try them out with her?

Thanks :) Right now water is just fun. The sippy cup is cool and she'll drink for a second then chew on the cup b/c it's so much mroe fun to play with, but I can't really tell how much she's drinking from how much she gets on herself so I wasn't sure if there was any danger in the water intake at this point.

She likes what we eat, and goes in spurts. Some days she'll eat a whole jar of food, other days she's grabbing the spoon and "tells" me she's done. I oer her the lil "snack" foods, and she'll eat them or play with them depending on her mood. She isn't on drops right now, but I'm not worried (even though WIC is making me get her iron level tested this month.. ugh), I guess she's getting all she needs right now- it's just hard to know when is the right time. I know of other babies that eat in a day, what she eats in a week and was a bit worried. Thanks :)
