ok,i finally got a job but it's only temp work. In the mean time,I am applying for a different position within the same company, and its permanent. My supervisor told me they will probably be calling me for an interview sometime this month, and I am already getting nervous. First of all, I think the last time I got formally interviewed was when i was 16 and applying to Pier 1. So I am very inexperienced with interviews. On top of that, it's a group interview--which means 3 or 4 people will be asking me questions. A little intimidating!!!! Does anyone have any experience/stories/advice they want to share with me?

I'm not sure how much help I can be, because I think I'm pretty horrible at interviews. But I have done a group interview, and it didn't seem that much worse than one with a single person. They took turns asking questions, but all three were taking notes the whole time. For me, I got way more nervous about the interview itself, than any small increase caused by the extra people. All I can suggest is to try whatever works to reduce nervousness. I think I present badly at interviews because my nervousness prevents me from coming up with ideas and articulating them as well as I can when I'm relaxed.
I've had millions of interviews. It really helps who is interviewing you, too. I find that when I like the interviewer, I feel more confident and less shy. I think just talking about your accomplishments, etc can help. Smile, make eye contact, sit up straight and nicely - don't slouch, use hand gestures, etc...
Ditto what Heather said. Go in there with confidence (even if you're nervous as hell). I'm really shy when it comes to meeting new people and get really anxious (you can tell when my palms and pits start to sweat really bad, lol), but over the years I've learned how to fake confidence. Just pretend it doesn't bother you and you'll find that eventually it won't bother you. Remember to smile! I know it's cheesy, but with a good smile you'll show them that you're glad to be there, kwim? I hope everything works out for you! Good luck!
