I was doing some research about the BC patch(ortho evra) because I had a weird experince while using it(dizziness, pain in the spot I had it,weight loss for no reason) and while I didnt find anything out about that in particular,I did find out that the BC patch has been linked to several deaths due to Pulmonary Embolisms(blood clot in the lungs) and it the percent of women using it has been going up..it has been going up enough that Women have been suing Ortho McNeil. Im not telling anyone what Birth Control to use,I am just saying that before you make a decision research and weigh the risks of each form of BC..Stay Safe!
PS..here is some links that will tell you more about PE and the Patch

I don't want this to seem like a sensationalist post so I will go ahead and say that the risk of embolisms due to this type of birth control is really NOT much higher than that due to the pill and other types of hormonal birth control! I would take very lightly any type of figures in news articles.
Everyone should read the boxes and inserts for their medication ALWAYS.
That is very true.
All bc has a higher risk of blood clots thats why they don't like to give it to women who smoke, are over 35 or who have a pattern of blood clots in their family
I just wanted to throw in that while the risks of using birth control do exist- remember that birth control is a medication, just like Tylenoo or antibiotics.
You should always read all the information that you can about a new medication, and triple check that you are not at heightened risk for any of the side effects.
